User Flow to record response
How user can record response amd convert to transcript
Below is the user flow to record responses for subjective questions and convert them into transcript which user can edit before submitting.
What I learned 💭
Voice recording makes it easier and quicker for users to share their thoughts. This lead to more detailed and genuine responses. Voice responses capture tone, emotion, and nuances that are often lost in text, providing deeper insights into employees' true feelings and experiences.
Problem Statement
How to encourage users to share their stories?
Open-ended questions in employee engagement surveys provide the most valuable insights, but employees often hesitate to write detailed responses. The challenge was to find a way to encourage them to share their experiences as stories, helping organizations collect richer and more meaningful feedback.
Proposed Solution
Recording voice responses
We designed a solution that lets users record and submit their voice responses. Users can record multiple times before submitting it. After submitting the response system converts the voice response to transcript i.e. typed text. Users tend to explain more while talking and may type less, So voice recording proved to be a best solution.
Due to NDA restrictions, all the details about the project, design and design process cannot be shared. Here are some glimps of the design.

Listen to your recording
User can replay the recording to ensure what they are submitting.
User can either delete the response or submit response.

Transcript loading...
Once user submits the recording, system will generate a transcript.
By the time system generates the transcript user can move to next question and edit the transcript later on.

User can edit the transcript once ready

It could be overwhelming for the user to answer 5 subjective questions in one go
So we introduces small breaks
User can save progress, take a coffee break and come back to complete remaining survey.
